Today, on 23 May 2024, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Türkiye together with the Embassy of Belgium and the World Food Programme in Türkiye held a panel discussion: ‘Ensuring Global Food Security’.

The event focused on joint efforts to ensure stable food supplies to global markets.

The discussion was opened by Oleksandr Bankov, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, who emphasised Ukraine's important role as a global supplier of grain and food. He also spoke about the steps Ukraine is taking to restore supply chains that have been disrupted by Russia's aggression.

The participants discussed specific measures taken by partner countries to ensure food security, in particular, the role of Türkiye as a leader in the Food Security pillar of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula.

Special attention was paid to the countries of the Global South. Representatives of these countries identified key challenges and ways to ensure uninterrupted food supplies to the regions that need it most.

Ukraine is a global food exporter and has the capacity to ensure that no country in the world suffers from food shortages. Russia will not be able to repeat the artificial famine in the 21st century,’ said Vasyl Bodnar, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Türkiye.
