On 14 May 2024, Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov paid a working visit to Türkiye and met with Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Türkiye Yaşar Güler.

The parties discussed the deepening of defence cooperation and stressed the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Türkiye.

We also held an expanded meeting with the participation of delegations, where we discussed in detail the prospects for further cooperation. I briefed my Turkish counterpart in detail on the situation at the frontline. A separate focus was the security situation in the Black Sea region,’ - Rustem Umerov said.
