On 24 May 2026, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Hakan Fidan in Ankara.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the security situation and coordination of efforts in response to common challenges; the development of joint initiatives in the field of regional security and prospects for practical cooperation; as well as the return of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilian citizens illegally detained by Russia — one of Ukraine’s key priorities.

Türkiye continues to play an important role in supporting dialogue on security and stability in the region.

Rustem Umerov expressed gratitude to Türkiye and Hakan Fidan for their support of Ukraine and constructive cooperation.
