Andrii Sybiha Participates in the NATO–Ukraine Council Meeting in Ankara
10 July 2026 10:17

On Wednesday, 8 July, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, participated in the meeting of the NATO–Ukraine Council in Ankara.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister briefed partners on the consequences of Russia’s recent attacks, as well as Ukraine’s achievements on the battlefield, in the defence industry, and in implementing long-range sanctions against the aggressor.

“The strength of Ukraine’s defenders is bringing peace closer. But to achieve this, we need the unwavering support of our allies. Air defence remains our top priority. I stressed the urgent need to strengthen protection against ballistic threats. Putin is relying on ballistic terror as his last remaining advantage. Therefore, ballistic missile defence is not only about saving lives; it is also a way to compel Moscow to end the war,” the Minister said.

Andrii Sybiha stressed that Ukraine urgently requires the timely delivery of air defence systems and interceptors, particularly ahead of the winter season. He underlined that additional contributions to the Priority Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) are critically important. According to the Minister, the battle for the skies will determine the course of the war at this stage, making victory in the air essential to bringing the war to an end.

“Ukraine is no longer a country that simply seeks protection; Ukraine is a security partner and contributor. We are ready to bring our unique strengths, experience, and innovations to our collective security. NATO 3.0 will not be complete without Ukraine. Together, we are strengthening our shared security and bringing a just and lasting peace closer for Ukraine and the rest of Europe,” he noted.

The Minister expressed his gratitude to all Allies for their unwavering support and commitment, for the additional contributions announced during the meeting, and for their confidence in Ukraine’s ability to prevail.
