From January 26 to 31, with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Türkiye, a working visit of the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Olha Kuryshko, to Türkiye took place. The program of the visit covered Ankara, Eskişehir, and Istanbul.
Within the framework of the visit, a number of meetings were held with representatives of the state authorities of the Republic of Türkiye, in particular with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Berris Ekinci, the leadership of relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, and the Center for Strategic Research under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye (SAM).
Separate meetings were also held with the Ombudsman of the Republic of Türkiye, Mehmet Akarca, as well as with the leadership of Eskişehir Province.
An important expert component of the visit included a briefing and discussions with representatives of the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Türkiye (TEPAV).
A significant part of the program was devoted to cooperation in the field of education. Meetings were held with the leadership of TED University, Hacı Bayram Veli University, and Anadolu University (Eskişehir).
Meetings were also conducted with the General Directorate of the Crimean Tatar Culture and Mutual Assistance Society in Türkiye, the Emel Kırım Vakfı Foundation, representatives of Crimean Tatar organizations in Ankara, Eskişehir, and Istanbul, as well as with the Ukrainian community in Türkiye.
A key outcome of the visit was the signing of a memorandum on the establishment of Crimean Tatar Studies at Anadolu University (Eskişehir) within the framework of the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies, implemented with the support of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
The memorandum creates a foundation for strengthening Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation in education and science, developing academic exchanges, and supporting research in contemporary Ukrainian studies, particularly regarding the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Agreements were also reached on further support for the development of Ukrainian studies, including Crimean Tatar studies, in Türkiye.
