Esteemed Turkish nation, dear friends,
On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, I extend my warmest greetings to you.
Throughout the holy month of Ramadan, in our fasting, prayers, and supplications, we have all shared the same hope: peace, compassion, and a more just world for humanity.
As Ukraine, we have continued our traditions this year as well; the President of Ukraine, H.E. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with senior officials and our Muslim soldiers, gathered at iftar tables.
Today, more than two million Muslims live in Ukraine. Unfortunately, this year again, they had to observe Ramadan under the shadow of war. Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure constitute a form of “winter terror” against our civilian population. In many cities, people were left without electricity and natural gas for days; for some families, even preparing a bowl of hot soup for iftar became impossible.
Despite all these hardships, Ukraine has stood strong. Our faith, solidarity, and the spiritual strength of Ramadan have given us patience and resilience.
On this occasion, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Türkiye and the Turkish people, who have stood in solidarity with the people of Ukraine in these difficult times, and whose generators and humanitarian assistance have brought not only light but also hope.
I wish that this blessed holiday brings health, peace, and prosperity to you and your families.
From Ukraine to Palestine, from the Middle East to other regions of the world affected by conflicts, we pray for peace to be established as soon as possible.
Blessed Eid al-Fitr!
