On 29 April 2024, the Embassy of Ukraine in Türkiye, with the support of the Embassy of Germany in Türkiyeand the Göethe Institute in Ankara, held the first screening of the documentary film ‘20 Days in Mariupol’ in Ankara.
The screening was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions, Turkish business, local authorities, as well as local and international media. In addition, before the screening, the witnesses of the events in Mariupol - Junior Sergeant Ihor Chevpan and former paramedic Asan Isenadzhiyev - spoke about their journey from Mariupol, life in captivity and war crimes committed by the Russian Federation.
While calling on the Turkish and international community to continue supporting the fight for freedom and independence, Chevpan and Isenadzhiyev also drew attention to the situation of prisoners of war, calling for support for their release.
This film demonstrates the reality of the war tragedy, thus showing the world the heroic deeds of Ukrainians.
Both the speakers and the film have conveyed to the general public the true depth of the tragedy experienced by the Ukrainian people, - said Ambassador of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar also expressed gratitude to his colleagues from Germany - Ambassador Jürgen Schulz and Director of the Göethe Institute Friedrich Dalhaus - for their support in organising the screening.
