On 31 July 2026, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the law ratifying the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye.

The information is available in the official record of Law No. 4932-IX on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The Agreement is expected to promote the further development of bilateral cooperation while providing new opportunities for Ukraine to expand and modernise its domestic production.

Its ratification will also enable Ukrainian businesses to access one of the largest markets in the region.

A key objective of the Agreement is to create favourable conditions for the development of Ukraine’s processing industry, enhancing the competitiveness and value-added capacity of Ukrainian manufacturers.

In addition, the Agreement will help prepare Ukraine for future membership in the European Union by providing practical experience in exporting, strengthening business partnerships, and improving logistics networks.

Another important aspect of the Agreement is its contribution to Ukraine’s European integration. It provides for the application of the provisions of the revised Regional Convention on Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Preferential Rules of Origin (PEM Convention). This will allow Ukrainian manufacturers to use Turkish materials and components while retaining the preferential origin status of their products for exports to EU member states.
